The Hong Kong generator uses N/A as a no-postcode marker. That marker is a representation chosen by this tool, not a postcode to submit to another service. Your adapter should map it to the empty or omitted value required by the receiving API.

Set up a focused test

Start with a generated Hong Kong record and write down three representations: what the preview displays, what the form holds and what the API accepts. For an API whose contract requires an empty string, the outgoing postalCode should be empty. Do not replace the marker with a made-up numeric code just to pass a required-field check.

Run the checks

  1. Copy the postal field and confirm the intended empty value.
  2. Inspect the network payload after submission.
  3. Test switching from a country with a postcode to Hong Kong.
  4. Confirm that a previously entered postcode does not remain hidden.

Interpret the result

If a downstream service requires a postcode for every destination, surface that compatibility problem instead of hiding it. Keep a regression case for the conversion, including a control record with an actual nonempty postcode so the adapter does not erase every country’s value.
